Qwest Expands Use of ONI's OC-192 Systems
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 9 – ONI Systems Corp. said that during the first quarter of 2001 Qwest Communications International Inc. continued to deploy ONI's Online transport platforms in several additional US cities. Qwest Local Broadband Division is leveraging ONI's transport platform to deliver OC-192 (10 Gb/s) services to its metro customers, providing an optical foundation for next generation wavelength services.
"Qwest is aggressively deploying network solutions that give us greater performance and reliability to meet the growing demand for high-speed local broadband transport," said Augie Cruciotti, executive vice president of Local Networks at Qwest. "We needed a solution that would enable us to deploy OC-192 services today and ONI was able to meet that challenge."
