Northern Cable Splice of FLAG Atlantic-1 System Completed

LONDON, April 24 -- FLAG Telecom has completed the final mid-Atlantic splice of the Northern loop of the FLAG Atlantic-1 cable system (FA-1). FA-1, a multiterabit dual cable, fully redundant loop system connecting London, Paris and New York, is at an advanced stage of construction and is scheduled to enter commercial service this year.
FA-1 is being built as a loop system with three self-healing, high-capacity loops making the system highly resilient with no single point of failure. The system is expected to offer seamless connectivity between major business centers in the US and Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region over other elements of FLAG Telecom's global network.
