FibreWired Burlington Hydro to Test LMG's A-O Switch
BURLINGTON, Ontario, Canada, April 27 -- Light Management Group Inc. has signed a Letter of Intent with FibreWired Burlington Hydro Communications to provide LMG's acousto-optic switches for assessment in connection with the public utility and communications company.
LMG said the acousto-optic switch operates at a speed of less than 5 m, a 1000-fold advantage over today's microelectromechanical systems technology. LMG's switch, which can transform optical signals from one input channel to more than 1000 output channels, contains no moving parts and has performed over one trillion cycles entirely free of maintenance. FibreWired Burlington Hydro Communications serves a population base of 137,000 residential, commercial and industrial consumers southwest of Toronto.
