Exfo Launches Next-Generation Field-Testing Platform
QUEBEC CITY, Canada, May 29 -- Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. announced the launch of the FTB-400 Universal Test System (UTS) for the installation and maintenance of optical networks.
Exfo contends that the FTB-400 UTS represents the industry's first modular platform that can perform all the essential physical layer tests for long-haul, metro and access networks. It is available in a two-slot configuration for basic OTDR and optical loss testing, or a seven-slot configuration for high-end DWDM testing, PMD characterization, high fiber-count testing as well as OTDR and optical loss testing. The FTB-400 UTS supports test modules used with EXFO's first-generation platform, FTB-300 UTS.
"Exfo revolutionized the fiber optic test and measurement industry five years ago with the first modular platform that housed as many as three field-interchangeable test modules," said Mario Larose, vice-president of marketing at Exfo. "Now, we're taking it one step farther with this flexible platform that can perform comprehensive optical tests within a short time frame to meet the increasing requirements of leading-edge optical networks."
