EyeTicket Announces Congressional Request of $2.75 Million

McLEAN, Virginia, June 20 -- EyeTicket Corp. announced that members of the US Senate and House of Representatives have requested $2.75 million in funding to complete installation of iris recognition at the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. EyeTicket has successfully operated the EyePass Aviation Access Control, an iris recognition-based security system, at Charlotte/Douglas since May 2000.
    The first congressional request was made in the US House of Representatives on April 6, 2001, by congresswoman Sue Myrick, 9th District North Carolina. This request of $2.75 million is for continuation and expansion of iris recognition, including passenger processing. On May 17, 2001, Sen. Jesse Helms, R-North Carolina, made a similar request for $2.75 million in the US Senate.
    At Charlotte/Douglas, EyePass has completed in excess of 300,000 access events with 100 percent accuracy and zero security breaches. The Federal Aviation Administration has closely monitored the program.
    EyeTicket is a provider of high volume processing and access control using biometric identification. EyeTicket owns US Patent 6,119,086, and licenses its core iris recognition technology from Iridian Technologies in Moorestown, N.J.
