UCLA, MIT Pick Virtek Microarray for Industrial Applications
WATERLOO, Ontario, June 22 -- Virtek Vision International Inc. said that the Chemical Engineering Departments at both the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will use the Virtek ChipWriter Pro microarray spotter and the Virtek ChipReader microarray scanner for new industrial applications.
"The adoption of microarray technology in industrial applications by lead users such as UCLA and MIT speaks directly to the size, ease of use and adaptability of this technology in new and untapped areas," said Jim Crocker, president and CEO of Virtek. "The ability to spot many samples of any biological matter onto a small area with an arrayer, and quickly extract the information from each of these samples at once with a scanner, are key enabling technologies for medical research, industrial applications and other uses."
