Coherent Introduces 15 mW, CW, Green Lasers for Bioinstrumentation and Photofinishing Applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 11 -- Coherent Laser Division (CLD) recently introduced the Compass 215M, a diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) continuous-wave (CW) laser that emits at 532 nm. The Compass 215M has been specifically designed as a cost-competitive, low-noise, green laser source for the bioinstrumentation and photofinishing markets.

"Developing the Compass 215M was a direct response to requests from our current bioinstrumentation and photofinishing customers," said Torsten Rauch, product line manager at Coherent. "Specifically, for bioinstrumentation applications, the Compass 215M fills the need for an affordable, reliable, long-lifetime, low-power green laser source. In graphic arts, the 215M also meets the very stringent requirements for low optical noise and low acoustical noise sensitivity that are critical for photofinishing."
Compass 215M beta units began shipping in February, with commercial units now available.
