Corning, Nortel Networks Demonstrate DWDM Solution at InterOpt 2001

CORNING, N.Y., July 19 -- Nortel Networks and Corning Inc. are demonstrating an innovative dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) metro optical solution at InterOpt 2001, July 16-19 in Tokyo.
This solution features Corning MetroCor optical fiber operating in the C-band at 2.5 Gb/s over Nortel Networks OPTera Metro 5200 system. The demonstration will be available to the public during exhibition hours at the Corning booth .
Nortel Networks OPTera Metro 5200 is protocol and bit-rate independent and DWDM data-optimized. It includes a survivable platform with tributary interfaces for metropolitan access and interoffice applications. OPTera Metro 5200 harnesses the power of DWDM to optimize use of current fiber infrastructure. It also provides flexible connectivity over point-to-point or ring-based networks, helping service providers to address unpredictable bandwidth growth, capitalize on service delivery opportunities and enhance profitability.
