Alps Electric Co., Ltd. has announced the completion of the Fiscal 2001 Environmental Report, a 20-page report in English and Japanese on the Company's efforts in environmental preservation during fiscal 2001. Released on July 3, the report was one of the first published this year in the electronic components industry.

The Fiscal 2001 Environmental Report contains information on the Company's efforts in environmental protection, production activities and their combined effect on society during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2001.

The report discloses concrete information on the progress and results of efforts made in fiscal 2001 in the Third Medium-Term Voluntary Action Plan (fiscal 2000-fiscal 2002) for environmental protection, which was implemented from April 2000, and clarifies activities that took place during the fiscal year.

The report also includes a wealth of data for comparison with the previous report in terms of progress in lightening the environmental burden of all Alps companies and primary factories, as well as the achievements of each division toward their respective targets in reducing industrial waste and conserving energy.

The "ALPS' Approach to Environmental Activities in Production" section provides information on management of chemical substances and progress in zero-emission activities, which aim to reduce waste emissions to zero by reusing all waste generated in factories as resources, as a part of the Company's efforts to reduce industrial waste and promote recycling. Alps will continue to disclose information in a timely fashion with annual publications in July of reports on its accumulated results and progress in environmental preservation.
