Coherent, Inc., Semiconductor Division (CSD), will now provide direct sales, service and support to the high-power diode laser market in Switzerland from the CSD European headquarters in Dieburg, Germany.

"Due to significant growth in the commercial high-power diode laser business in Switzerland, specifically in solid-state laser pumping, instrumentation, medical and materials processing applications, we have decided to serve the market directly from Dieburg," said Dr. Joerg Neukum, CSD's European sales manager. "And since typically these customers have very complex technical requirements, this will allow us to provide faster service and direct factory support."

The new sales and service organization will cover CSD's complete product line of CW and QCW high-power visible and aluminum-free near-infrared diode lasers, power supplies, optical accessories and full feature turn key systems. Said Neukum, "As evidenced by the incredible response our products received at the Laser 2001 trade show and in addition to our already well established contacts in Switzerland, we expect to strengthen our position as a high-power laser diode supplier for the Swiss market within the next fiscal year."
