DALSA Announces Definitive Agreement to Aquire CCD

WATERLOO, Ontario, March 28 -- DALSA Corp. announced it has signed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire the CCD Image Sensors Business of Royal Philips Electronics, located in Eindhoven, Netherlands. This announcement follows and confirms DALSA’s Jan. 23. press release in which the signing of the term sheet between DALSA and Philips was announced.

DALSA said the acquisition is a significant step in its growth strategy in digital imaging solutions and that it will improve its capabilities in the semiconductor image sensor sector. The acquisition immediately gives DALSA technology and market share in image sensors for professional digital still cameras, a strengthened position in life sciences imaging, and increased market share in other industrial and professional imaging sectors, it said.
