Air Force Should Support Nanotechnology Research

WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 -- Research in micro- and nanoscience and technology could dramatically change the nature of warfare, says a new report from the National Academies' Air Force Science and Technology Board. The report calls for increased, sustained research and development in these areas, which could eventually lead to smarter weapons, launch-on-demand satellites and increased accuracy and range for cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft.
