Turrens and his colleagues at the University of South Alabama in Mobile are exposing liposomes, amino acids and proteins such as bovine serum albumin to different peroxides to identify the wavelengths that are associated with oxidative stress. The experiments may enable the development of a noninvasive method to quantify oxidative stress and may lead to possible treatments.
