Micronic Laser Systems AB, a Stockhom, Sweden-based manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment to the display and semiconductor industries, announced it has received a repeat order for an MP80+ laser pattern generator from a merchant photomask manufacturer in Asia. The customer will use the tool mainly to target STN-LCD applications. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2003. . . . Nanogen Inc. announced it has been issued US Patent 6,569,382, "Methods and Apparatus for the Electronic, Homogeneous Assembly and Fabrication of Devices," relating to methods to integrate micro and nanoscale components, such as light-emitting diodes for displays, highly integrated biosensors and micromechanical devices into higher-order structures and devices. . . . Inforetech Wireless Technology Inc., a supplier of global positioning system (GPS) technology for the golf industry, said it is preparing to ship 160 handheld Inforemer GPS units with a retail value of approximately $800,000 to golf courses on the Chinese mainland and Thailand. Newly signed distributor Asia GPS Golf and Inforetech Wireless Technology have initiated steps to begin preparations for GPS mapping of the Chinese and Thai courses.
