Si-Light Technologies Ltd., a startup company in Guildford, England, said it will investigate low-cost applications of its dislocation engineering technology, which enables light emission from silicon in the 1.1 µm to 1.6 µm wavelength region. Potential applications include integrated circuit optical interconnects, microelectromechanical sytems, lab-on-a-chip technology and sensor systems.
