Rockwell Collins Awarded $20 M for Head-Up Displays

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Oct. 30 -- Rockwell Collins, a developer of aircraft head-up guidance systems, has been awarded a $20 million contract by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. to provide dual head-up display (HUD) systems for 60 C-130J aircraft used by the US Air Force and US Marine Corps. Rockwell Collins said it will provide its Flight Dynamics HGS(R)-3000 head-up guidance system, the only dual HUD system certified by the FAA as the primary flight display.     An optical system that superimposes a synthetic display providing navigational or weapon-aiming information on a pilot's or driver's field of view. The system includes a cathode-ray tube, collimating optics and a combiner that projects the image in front of the window.
