BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 1 -- Researchers at Northeastern University (NU) announced they have been able to demonstrate the unique feature of imaging through a flat lens. Using the phenomenon of negative refraction through a novel photonic crystal, NU physicists observed that a flat slab of such material behaves as a lens and focuses electromagnetic waves at microwave frequencies to produce a real image. The research, published in a recent issue of the journal Nature in the article, "Imaging by Flat Lens Using Negative Refraction," is led be Srinivas Sridhar, PhD, from the department of physics and...Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesBruker Acquires Inscopix; Adaptive Glasses Firm Deep Optics Secures Investment: Week in Brief: 11/11/22Bruker Corp. acquired Inscopix Inc., a developer of miniaturized microscopes known as miniscopes, for freely moving animal brain imaging.
