(IMRA), a maker of ultrafast fiber lasers, announced it has licensed its patent for amplification technology to Nufern, a maker of fiber-intensive subassemblies and specialty optical fibers. IMRA is licensing US Patent No. 5,818,630 "Single-Mode Amplifiers and Compressors Based on Multi-Mode Fibers," which involves subassemblies based on Nufern's large-mode area (LMA), double-clad (DC) fibers.
