NuSil Technology Acquires Lightspan

Silicone compound manufacturer NuSil Technology of Carpinteria, Calif., has obtained Lightspan LLC of Wareham, Mass., a specialist in the design of fluids, gels, coatings, thermosets and encapsulation materials for the photonics and fiber optics industries. Under terms of the agreement, NuSil will retain Lightspan's plant and employees as a technical services and development center for the photonics industry, and the Lightspan brand will serve as the basis for products and services for that market. NuSil also will maintain a relationship with Lightspan's distributor, Fiber Optic Center. NuSil's silicone products have applications in the photonics, aerospace, electronics and health care industries. Financial terms were not disclosed.
