Eikos to Develop Aircraft Canopy Nanotubes

FRANKLIN, Mass., May 5 -- Eikos Inc., a developer and licenser of transparent carbon nanotube inks for conductive coatings and circuits, has been awarded an $860,000 contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop transparent conductive polymers for military aircraft canopies.

Eikos said it will help the Department of Defense (DOD) reduce canopy manufacturing and replacement costs for military aircraft using transparent conductive polymers. Eikos is also doing research on conductive coating for the DoD and has polymer research projects underway with NASA.

In addition to making carbon nanotube formulations for coatings, Eikos develops coating methods that allow the conversion of those formulations into products for the commercial display market and for military applications.
