RVSI Receives UID, Inspection Orders

NASHUA, N.H., Dec. 8 -- Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI) announced today that BAE Systems has selected its unique-identification (UID) kit for compliance with a new Department of Defense (DoD) policy. In addition, RVSI has been selected by science and technology company Battelle Memorial Institute, of Columbus, Ohio, to participate in a General Services Administration supply contract. RVIS said it will provide UID support to DoD agencies and services as a subcontractor.

The RVSI kit allows defense contractors such as BAE Systems to comply with the UID policy by providing mark validation and mark quality verification, as required under new military regulations for all solicitations issued after Jan. 1, 2004, mandating the use of Data Matrix symbology on a large class of equipment and parts. RVSI makes a line of Data Matrix readers, verifiers and UID products and services, with customers in the government, semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical and packaging industries.

RVSI also announced today that an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test company has chosen its WS-3000 wafer inspection system, which combines 2-D and 3-D inspection in one system, to be installed in a packaging facility in Southeast Asia.
