NORTH SUTTON, N.H., July 12 -- Marc Burrell, a student of bioengineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas, is this year's recipient of the DJ Lovell Scholarship, awarded by SPIE (the International Society for Optical Engineering) and funded in part by Labsphere Inc., a maker of integrating spheres, systems and instruments for a variety of electro-optical test and measurement applications. Burrell has concentrated on biomedical optics, medical imaging and signal processing with a focus on magnetic resonance imaging for patients with implantable cardiac devices.
