Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have added 150 methods to a database of 255 procedures for analyzing specific synthetic polymers using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. Collected from peer-reviewed scientific literature, the methods provide data that is important in the industrial design, manufacture and application of the polymers. They have not necessarily been tested by the Characterization and Measurement Group of the Polymers Div. of the institute, however. Published papers containing new methods will be considered for the online resource, which is targeted to the mass spectroscopy community.
