Ocean Optics, CS&T Form Process Application Solutions Partnership
Ocean Optics of Dunedin, Fla., has partnered with Custom Sensors & Technology (CS&T) of Fenton, Mo., to develop process application solutions combining Ocean Optics’ miniature fiber-optic spectrometers and CS&T’s process expertise, packaging and components. Ocean Optics makes miniature fiber-optic spectrometers that address measurement technologies including absorbance, fluorescence and transmittance for the ultraviolet, visible and near-infrared wavelength ranges. CS&T specializes in providing probes, flow cells and sample handling systems to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, water quality and pulp and paper industries.
- The emission of light or other electromagnetic radiation of longer wavelengths by a substance as a result of the absorption of some other radiation of shorter wavelengths, provided the emission continues only as long as the stimulus producing it is maintained. In other words, fluorescence is the luminescence that persists for less than about 10-8 s after excitation.
