LED Conference to be Europe's Biggest Lighting Show Yet
BIRMINGHAM, England, Feb. 12, 2007 -- euroLED 2007, the fourth annual solid-state lighting conference and exhibition, will be the biggest yet, with the show attracting more exhibitors, speakers and participants than ever before. The show, dedicated to the science, technology and application of HB-LEDs (high-brightness LEDs) and solid-state lighting, will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham from June 5-7.
euroLED is a nonprofit activity organized on behalf of the optoelectronics industry by the Photonics Cluster UK and the Solid-State Lighting Research Centre. A highlight of the global solid-state lighting calendar, the event is the largest conference and exhibition in Europe dedicated to HB-LEDs and solid-state lighting, and offers a unique opportunity for global organizations to penetrate, expand and understand the European and global LED and solid-state lighting markets. More than 330 delegates took part in last year's event.
Photonics Cluster UK officials said that top companies from around the world will have a major presence at this year's show.
“This year’s event is not just our biggest yet but also our broadest, reflecting the increasing impact that solid-state lighting is having on so many technology areas,” said euroLED Conference Director Nina Blackmore. “We have drawn exhibitors and speakers from around the world and across the whole supply chain of LED technology -- euroLED has become a must-attend event for all players in this industry.”
A pre-conference seminar and workshops will be held on June 5; the main conference takes place on June 6 and 7 and features experts providing strategic insight into the latest technologies, emerging application markets and common issues of LED installation and maintenance. A floor exhibition featuring more than 50 international exhibitors will also take place on June 6 and 7.
Robert Steele of US research firm Strategies Unlimited will open the conference with an HB-LED market overview. He will be followed by Volker Härle, senior director of LED marketing at Osram Opto Semiconductors, speaking on success factors for LED Lighting.
The euroLED conference, which brings together manufacturers, component and equipment suppliers, lighting specifiers and design engineers representing the companies who are shaping the future of LED technology, will feature presentations on the end-user applications of solid-state lighting. Under the broad topic of environmental effects, Mark McClear of Cree Inc. will talk about LEDs now being more efficient than fluorescents, and what comes next; Martin Hartmann of TridonicAtco will present recent advances in emergency lighting under the topic of architectural and residential applications; and Barry Rowland of Nokia will address the challenges of backlighting with LEDs.
