Frank Plastina Appointed Cree Director
Frank Plastina was appointed to the Cree Inc.'s board of directors and to the board’s audit and governance committee and nominations committee, effective Dec. 31, 2007. Plastina, 45, has been Tekelec's president and CEO and a member of its board since February 2006. Tekelec is a public provider of telecommunications network systems and software applications based in Morrisville, N.C. Previously, Plastina was an executive in residence at Warburg Pincus LLC, a private equity firm. He formerly held executive positions with Proxim Corp., a provider of wireless infrastructure equipment for wireless fidelity and wireless broadband markets, and previously held various management and executive positions at Nortel Networks. Plastina has a degree in commerce from the University of Toronto. Cree, based in Durham, N.C., makes semiconductors and devices used in solid-state lighting, power and communications products, including blue and green LED chips, lighting LEDs, LEDs for backlighting, power-switching devices and radio-frequency/wireless devices.
