Leica Micro Buys Coretech

WETZLAR, Germany, May 16, 2008 -- Leica Microsystems announced today it acquired, on May 14, the assets of St. Louis, Mo.-based Coretech Holdings and McCormick Scientific LLC (Coretech), a maker of instruments and consumables for histopathalogy laboratories. Terms were not disclosed. Coretech brands include McCormick Scientific, The Vibratome Co., Paraplast embedding media, TurbOflow II histology cassettes and myNeuroLab.com. Leica Microsystems, based in Wetzlar, Germany, makes precision optical systems for the analysis of microstructures.
