Fianium of Southampton, UK, an ultrafast fiber laser manufacturer, has rejected the allegations made by Crystal Fibre A/S of Birkerød, Denmark, regarding patent infringement related to Crystal Fibre’s nonlinear photonic technology used in supercontinuum generation. Fianium claims that, because its fabrication methods are unlike Crystal Fibre’s, none of its products or technologies infringe on the Danish company’s patents. After unsuccessful attempts to resolve the situation amicably, Fianium has filed a lawsuit against Crystal Fibre, which had previously tried to impose a supply agreement as part of a settlement, but this sanction was refused.
