Braunschweig Team Receives Patent Award

A team of inventors from Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany, led by Dr. Martin Koch and co-inventor Steffen Wietzke, has received first place in the IPB Patent Awards competition for frequency-selective, flexible, inexpensive terahertz mirrors made of plastic materials. The innovation could provide the key components in wireless indoor communications systems. The scientists are working to open up the gap in the electromagnetic spectrum for short-range communications technology. They were presented €25,000 (about $31,840).
