Corning Inc. of Corning, N.Y., announced that, effective immediately, R. Tony Tripeny, vice president and corporate controller, has been named principal accounting officer by the company’s board. Tripeny assumes the role from Katherine A. Asbeck, who is retiring. He joined the company in 1985 as the corporate accounting manager for Corning Cable Systems. He was elected division vice president in 2004 and served as operations controller until 2005, when he was named vice president and corporate controller. Tripeny is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and the Institute of Management Accounting.
