MRI Predicts Tumor Mutation

DENVER, April 21, 2009 – Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), researchers accurately predicted the specific genetic mutation that caused brain cancer in a group of patients. Dr. Donald O’Rourke, associate professor of neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and his colleagues presented their findings this week at the 100th annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research. “The field of cancer research has evolved to the point where the identification of the mutations that cause tumors has changed how we treat patients in a number of cancers,” O’Rourke said....Read full article
