The FDA has granted Nanosphere Inc. of Northbrook, Ill., approval for the Verigene system, a molecular diagnostics platform that utilizes gold nanoparticle technology to detect nucleic acids in a multiplex format. The company also has received FDA approval for its test for warfarin sensitivity, which uses the Verigene system to test for variations in two genes to determine the appropriate dosing levels for individual patients.
