Nov 2007
EdmundOptics.jpgThe “Optics and Optical Instruments Catalog, Fall 2007,” from Edmund Optics Inc. highlights the company’s edge-blackened optics, which are designed to eliminate scattered light from optical systems. The color-coded 361-page publication features new products, such as the TechSpec UV fused-silica precision aspheres, TechSpec long-travel English rack and pinion stages, Schneider high-numerical-aperture fixed-focal-length lenses and TechSpec NIR linear polarizers. It presents various optics, lasers, targets, magnifiers, mechanical devices, fiber components, electro-optics and machine vision electronics as well as products for imaging, illumination, microscopy, testing and component handling. Charts, diagrams, photographs, application notes and an index are provided.

GLOSSARY
electro-optics
1. The branch of physics that deals with the use of electrical energy to create or manipulate light waves, generally by changing the refractive index of a light-propagating material; 2. Collectively, the devices used to affect the intersection of electrical energy and light. Compare with optoelectronics.
