Invitrogen Corp. of Carlsbad, Calif., and Applied Biosystems Inc. of Norwalk, Conn., have completed their merger transaction. The new company, called Life Technologies Corp., is being traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol “LIFE.” The majority of Applied Biosystems’ shareholders elected to receive a cash consideration rather than shares.
