Affymetrix Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fremont, Calif.-based Panomics Inc., a provider of assay products for genetic and cellular analysis. Under terms of the agreement, Affymetrix will pay approximately $73 million in cash to purchase the company, a transaction expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
