GE Healthcare of Little Chalfont, UK, along with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in Espoo and other European research institutions, has announced the PredictAD project, a collaboration that will research diagnostic procedures for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The European Union-funded project will study imaging biomarkers, electronic brain activity and blood-based markers in hopes of finding ways to diagnose the disease at an earlier stage, to differentiate between its various forms and to assess its severity.In other news, GE Healthcare and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center have formed a company to improve the speed and efficiency of the diagnosis and interpretation of laboratory results. The joint venture, called Omnyx LLC, will be based in Pittsburgh and will focus on digital imaging solutions.
