Affymetrix Inc. of Santa Clara and NuGen Technologies Inc. of San Carlos, both in California, have announced an agreement to market the NuGen WT-Ovation FFPE system, enabling global gene expression analyses on archives of small and degraded formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples using standard Affymetrix GeneChip 3' expression arrays.

In other news, Affymetrix’s Clinical Services Laboratory in West Sacramento has been granted California’s Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments certification. The lab offers microarray-based molecular diagnostic patient and clinical trial testing for the development of personalized tests and therapies. Based on standardized guidelines, the certification validates the lab’s methods with regard to accuracy, precision, sensitivity, calibration, control and repeatability.
