MedicalCV Inc. of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Solar surgical ablation system. The automated product comprises a portable surgical laser, a computerized controller and a surgeon-placed orbital track. Using coherent laser light at 1064 nm, the device creates lesions on soft tissue during surgical procedures.
