HAMILTON, UK, Feb. 3, 2010 – Next generation semiconductor lasers, systems and solutions developer, Intense Ltd., has announced three new executive appointments.

Berthold Schmidt has been named the chief executive officer of the company. Scott Christie, former CEO, has stepped up to become the company’s new executive chairman of the board.

In his new role as CEO, Schmidt has promoted Kevin Laughlin to chief commercial officer, widening Laughlin’s current remit to take global responsibility for all business development, sales and marketing activity.

“Intense is at an interesting point in its development, having recently sold its UK front-end fabrication unit and started the process of consolidating all product line development and manufacturing into its New Jersey site,” said Schmidt. “Our strong blend of technical, manufacturing and commercial skills will take Intense to the forefront of the sector in the years ahead.”
