Through its US subsidiary, Sony Corp. of America (SCA), Sony Corp. of Tokyo and New York has acquired iCyt Mission Technology Inc. of Champaign, Ill., a producer of high-performance cell sorters used for stem cell and disease research. With the acquisition, Sony will apply its expertise and technologies to enter the flow cytometry business in the life sciences field. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SCA, iCyt plans to develop advanced technologies and deliver new products in collaboration with Sony.
