Digital imaging and semiconductor provider Dalsa Corp. of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, announced that it has received an order for inspection equipment valued at more than $3 million for a new Asia-Pacific flat panel display factory. The order includes the company’s flagship line-scan cameras and frame grabbers, with multiple hundreds of units scheduled for delivery during the first half of 2011. The company said that its products inspect almost all of the world’s flat panel displays, from small mobile devices to large television screens.

GLOSSARY
line-scan camera
An optical instrument used for quality control purposes that builds a 2D image of an object out of a series of one-line slices of it. Common applications include the inspections of webs, such as sheets of glass, fabric, rolls of paper, aluminum and steel. When used in a stereo configuration, a pair of line-scan cameras can capture two images of the same object from slightly different perspectives, making 3D inspections possible.
