Deadzone-Free, Naked-Eye 3-D Panel Showcased

HSINCHU, Taiwan, Nov. 17, 2010 — AU Optronics Corp. announced that it will showcase a deadzone-free naked-eye 3-D notebook panel at FPD International 2010. The company combines lenticular lens 3-D technology with the company SuperD's naked-eye 3-D solution to create deadzone-free 15.6" notebook and 10.1" tablet personal computer 3-D panels that do not require the use of special glasses.     An alphanumeric display formed by a layer of liquid crystal material sandwiched between two sheets of glass; a transparent conductive coating on the glass is etched to form the character segments. An applied voltage causes the appropriate segments to darken as the molecules in the liquid crystal change their arrangement.
