Pan-European Agreement

Photonics Spectra
Dec 2010
Silicon photonics provider Kotura Inc. of Monterey Park, Calif., announced it has signed a pan-European agreement with AMS Technologies, a distributor of optoelectronics, power electronics and thermal management products. The latter company will distribute the former’s entire suite of integrated solutions, including its high-speed, single-channel variable optical attenuators, high-speed variable optical attenuator arrays, and wavelength division multiplexers for 40- and 100-Gb/s Ethernet applications.

A sub-field of photonics that pertains to an electronic device that responds to optical power, emits or modifies optical radiation, or utilizes optical radiation for its internal operation. Any device that functions as an electrical-to-optical or optical-to-electrical transducer. Electro-optic often is used erroneously as a synonym.
