Laser maker IPG Photonics Corp. announced that it has appointed Trevor Ness as vice president of Asian operations. The Asian market has become increasingly important to IPG, representing 42 percent of its total revenue in the first three quarters of 2010. Working out of IPG’s Beijing facility, Ness will support IPG’s growth momentum in Asia. He joins IPG with more than 15 years of experience in the region, working with lasers and precision motion technologies in sales, service and operations positions. Prior to joining IPG, Ness was director of GSI Precision Technologies China, a part of GSI Group. “Asia sales have grown rapidly and we have made an important decision to establish a corporate presence in Asia," said IPG Chairman and CEO Dr. Valentin P.
