Detecting bacterial pathogen species with LIBS

Life-threatening hospital-acquired bacterial pathogens such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are on the rise; however, scientists have found a way to detect them in less than a minute using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS).
