Schott Solar Boosts Production

Photonics Spectra
Apr 2011
Schott Solar, based in Albuquerque, N.M., aims to expand its global photovoltaic module production capacity to more than 800 MW in 2011. To improve economies of scale and better supply new growth markets, the company will expand its manufacturing network via a joint venture with Hareon Solar Technology Co. Ltd. of Jiangyin, China. The first phase of the plan will add 300 MW of manufacturing capacity to the existing 500 MW at Schott Solar’s sites in the US and the Czech Republic. In Germany, Schott plans to double its wafer production capacity to 500 MW in 2011 and to increase the number of employees who work for the wafer division in Jena.
