Optis Acquires Software Maker

Optis Group announced the acquisition of SimplySim SAS, a software provider for rendering, simulation and robotics.

The addition of the latter’s technology will allow Optis to integrate its new real-time product portfolio into a state-of-the-art 3-D platform for greater realism in global simulation. The purchase follows Optis’ strategy to move toward more realistic simulators, an area it has invested in substantially over the past four years. It has thus far successfully integrated predictive light effects and human vision perception.

SimplySim’s SimplyCube software is used to develop, visualize and test virtual environments by applying physics behavior to every entity. It is compatible with the Newton Dynamics and NVIDIA PhysX physics engines, allowing users to generate realistic behaviors of objects. The rendering technology allows for accurate visualization of objects inside future environments.

“Connecting the virtual and real worlds through robotics will enlarge the scope of our potential applications in many domains, including unmanned vehicles and reconnaissance technologies for the defense industry,” said Jacques Delacour, CEO and president of Optis Group. “This heightened realism will also allow us to enter the field of serious games.”

Optis is a software editor for the scientific simulation of light and human vision within a virtual reality environment. Its solutions enable engineers to simulate and optimize lighting performance and product appearance, and they provide visibility and legibility of information on human-machine interfaces.
