GRENOBLE, France, MILPITAS, Calif. & DALLAS, May 25, 2011 — International MEMS manufacturer Tronics has appointed industry veteran Hervé Borrel as director of sales and marketing.

The former CEO of MicroChemical Systems, Borrel will guide expansion and growth of Tronics’ US operations, including its medical division in California and its high-volume MEMS foundry in Dallas.

Borrel, who has more than 20 years of experience in semiconductors and MEMS for automotive and medical applications, led MicroChemical Systems from a startup to a tier-one MEMS supplier for the automotive industry. Under his direction, the company became a supplier of gas sensors to many automakers and automotive equipment companies. The company was sold in 2007 to e2v Technologies; until the end of 2008, Borrel managed e2v’s automotive business unit.

He also spent six years with medical equipment company Haemonetics Corp. Prior to that, he spent five years in the semiconductor industry working for Motorola.
