Volkswagen AG has ordered a significant quantity of TruLaser Cell 8030 series laser cutting machines from Trumpf Laser und Systemtechnik GmbH, Trumpf announced recently. The first batch of the machines will be divided among Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg and its sites in Kassel and Spain. The batch forms only part of a bulk order that will see Trumpf deliver more than 50 machines to Volkswagen over the next two years. The laser cutting machines will be used by Volkswagen for the production of hot-formed parts for car bodies. The carmaker chose the device based on its high productivity and combined it with Trumpf’s fiber-guided TruDisk laser, creating an overall package that minimizes cost per part. Trumpf Group comprises three business divisions: Machine Tools/Power Tools, Laser Technology/Electronics and Medical Technology. Its core business is machine tools for flexible sheet metal processing for punching and forming, laser processing and bending. For more information, visit: www.trumpf.com
