GT Solar Receives $460M Order

MERRIMACK, N.H., June 17, 2011 — GT Solar International Inc. received a $460.4 million order for its advanced sapphire crystallization furnaces from a new market entrant.

The company’s largest single order to date, it represents a milestone and will be included in GT’s backlog for its current quarter, the first for fiscal year 2012, which ends July 2, 2011, it said.

According to industry analyst firm Strategies Unlimited, revenue for high- brightness LED applications will be approximately $19 billion by 2015, with general lighting applications accounting for about 25 percent.

GT Solar provides polysilicon production technology as well as sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and materials for the solar, LED and other specialty markets.
